Learn Spanish Fast

There are many reasons why you might want to learn Spanish – for work, for travel or for fun, to name a few. But whatever the reason, as an adult you might find that trying to learn a language is challenging. But it doesn’t have to be. Here are some tips to help you learn Spanish fast.

Taking a course, perhaps at your local community college, is a great start. Supplement your class by doing home study with a great Spanish language software program. Most of these computer programs can, with the aid of a microphone, evaluate your speaking accent, which can accelerate your skills and increase your confidence.

In addition to doing self study, start watching Spanish language programs on TV. Not only will it help train your ear to hearing Spanish, you will find that you absorb some of the language. The news is helpful because with the visuals and graphics, you will usually know what the news story is about and that makes it easier to make more sense of unfamiliar Spanish words. And try some telenovelas, too. If nothing else, they’re a hoot!

Buy flash cards or memory cards to carry with you to test yourself whenever you have a few minutes during the day. You can make flash cards of your own with plain index cards. They’re a great tool for learning vocabulary and verb conjugations.

To quickly increase your vocabulary of common Spanish words, label everything in your house with its Spanish equivalent and repeat the words when you come across them. Before you know it, you won’t need a label to say wall, spoon or window.

If you have Spanish-speaking friends, let them know you really want to learn Spanish fast and ask for their help. The best thing is for them to speak Spanish around you and make you speak Spanish to them. What’s great about this is you get Spanish practice as it is really spoken with idiomatic expressions and slang.

The best way to learn Spanish fast is to spend time in a Spanish-speaking country. If you learn some basic Spanish, taking an extended trip can really speed up your Spanish speaking skills. Visit smaller destinations that are not necessarily geared toward tourists to get immersed in the language and make the most of your educational vacation.
